Buying a used semi truck can save thousands of dollars, but only if you know what to inspect before signing the paperwork. 1. Review Maintenance Records

Ask for complete service records including oil changes, transmission service, brake work, DPF maintenance, and engine repairs. A truck with documented maintenance history is often a much safer investment than one with missing paperwork. Regular preventive maintenance is one of the best indicators of how well the truck was cared for.

2. Inspect the Engine

Open the hood and check for oil leaks, coolant leaks, damaged hoses, corrosion, or unusual engine noises. Start the engine cold if possible and watch for excessive smoke or vibration.
